Nintendo has now officially announced a dedicated Donkey Kong Bananza Direct showcase scheduled for later this week. After the debut of Mario Kart World on launch day earlier this month, the next major Switch 2 exclusive scheduled to launch for the next-generation console is now over a month away and we will all be getting more details on Donkey Kong’s new 3D adventure in this week’s Direct showcase.
Donkey Kong Bananza Direct goes live this week
For some, the Switch 2 lineup has been somewhat underwhelming. As fantastic as Mario Kart World is – it is sure to be one of, if not, the best-selling titles on the platform – most of the games available on day 1 for Switch 2 have been third-party ports and upgraded versions of Switch 1 games, like Breath of the Wild and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
That said, the next major new Switch 2 exclusive release – Donkey Kong Bananza – is slated for release on July 17 and Nintendo has now taken to the new Nintendo Today! app to officially announce a dedicated Direct presentation for the game.
Layer this week, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Nintendo will broadcast a livestream Direct dedicated solely to its new 3D Donkey Kong experience, and we will be here to watch it along with you.
According to the Nintendo Today! app, the Direct will run for 15 minutes and go live at 9 a.m. ET.
