Best Buy officially announces Switch 2 restock this week for Donkey Kong Bananza launch

The next big-time Switch 2 exclusive release is landing later this week, and if you’re yet to grab a console, we are are also getting Best Buy console restock. Donkey Kong Bananza is set for release on July 17 – the same day Best Buy has officially confirmed it will have Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in stock once again.

We had a very quick Switch 2 restock at Target late last week, just after Walmart served up what appeared to be a sizable number of units to its Walmart+ members to kick-off its massive summer sale, but next up is going to be Best Buy.

In celebration of the highly-anticipated new Donkey Kong Bananza – a game we now know was developed by the Super Mario Odyssey team, as many had expected – Best Buy is readying an in-store restock of Switch 2 for launch day,

According to its official Switch 2 landing page, which has now been updated with Bananza artwork and pre-order listings for the upcoming Switch 2 exclusive, the retailer has officially confirmed consoles will be up for grabs on Thursday, July 17:

Donkey Kong Bananza is a groundbreaking adventure available only for Nintendo Switch 2. And if you haven’t gotten your hands on the new system yet, this is your chance! All Best Buy stores will have limited quantities in stock on July 17.

Store availability subject to change.

As of right now, and based on previous updates of this nature, it is safe to say these units will only be available in-store and that we probably shouldn’t expect any units online that day. This of course isn’t great news for folks who won’t be able to make it into a local store that day, but if you can, there might be more than enough consoles up for grabs considering how many folks have already got one, and at least you won’t have to deal with the sometimes annoying virtual queue system online.

We will be keeping an eye out for online availability this week, we per usual – perhaps we might see other retailers looking to cash in on the Bananza craze for launch week.
